I have done a lot of backpacking, light mountaineering, and alpine skiing/snowboarding in the Sierras (south, east, and west) with a few lucky visits to Zion (backpacking and Canyoneering) and the Grand Canyon, and I am introducing a friend to backpacking this summer. Your Kern river area hikes helped me plan some routes for the n00bie! Thanks for sharing the backcountry stoke. Oh, and I second what Tyson says about Utah... you absolutely must try canyoneering in Zion NP. If you get the chance, you'd probably really dig places like Boulder mountain or Escalante in Utah. Anyway, maybe you can tell me where you took the pic of the waterfall and your friends jumping in?
